Introduction:
British-Egyptian writer and activist Alaa Abd El-Fattah remains arbitrarily imprisoned after serving an unjust five-year prison sentence in Egypt on politically motivated charges, in a grossly unfair trial. During his detention, he has endured severe conditions, including denial of access to a lawyer, UK consular visits, and basic necessities like a mattress and a pillow. Join this year’s Day of the Imprisoned Writer, calling for his immediate and unconditional release.
